     Vera Lilian Margaret Birkin was born on 22 April 1903.² She was the daughter of Colonel Charles Wilfred Birkin and Claire Lloyd Howe.¹ She married Major Frank James Wriothesley Seely, son of Lt.-Col. Frank Evelyn Seely and Leila Eliza Russell, on 5 February 1925.³ She died on 30 October 1970 at age 67.²
     Her married name became Seely.

     Colonel Charles Wilfred Birkin was born on 11 February 1865.² He was the son of Sir Thomas Isaac Birkin, 1st Bt. and Harriet Tebbutt.² He married Claire Lloyd Howe, daughter of Alexander Howe, on 2 July 1892.² He died on 3 April 1932 at age 67.²
     He held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.) for Nottinghamshire.² He held the office of Deputy Lieutenant (D.L.) of Nottinghamshire.² He was awarded the Territorial Decoration (T.D.)² He gained the rank of Lieutenant-Colonel in the 7th Battalion, Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire Regiment.² He fought in the First World War, where he was mentioned in despatches.² He gained the rank of Brevet Colonel in the 7th Battalion, Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire Regiment.² He was appointed Companion, Order of St. Michael and St. George (C.M.G.) in 1916.²

     Claire Lloyd Howe was the daughter of Alexander Howe.¹ She married Colonel Charles Wilfred Birkin, son of Sir Thomas Isaac Birkin, 1st Bt. and Harriet Tebbutt, on 2 July 1892.¹ She died on 27 September 1934.¹
     Her married name became Birkin. She was awarded the Médaille de la Reconnaissance Française.¹ She was awarded the Médaille de la Reine Elisabeth of Belgium.¹ She was appointed Lady of Grace, Order of St. John of Jerusalem (L.G.St.J.)¹

     Alexander Howe lived at New York, U.S.A.^G.¹

     Sir Thomas Isaac Birkin, 1st Bt. was born on 15 February 1831 at New Basford, Nottinghamshire, England^G.^2,3 He was the son of Richard Birkin and Mary Anne Walker.² He married Harriet Tebbutt, daughter of Matthew Tebbutt and Mary Anne Clarke, on 9 October 1856.² He died on 16 January 1922 at age 90.
     He gained the rank of Captain in 1859 in the 3rd Volunteer Battalion, Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire Regiment (Robin Hood Rifles), which he helped to establish.² He was a director of GNR.² He was a director of the Mercantile Steamship Company.² He held the office of High Sheriff of Nottinghamshire between 1892 and 1893.² He was created 1st Baronet Birkin, of Ruddington Grange, Nottingham [U.K.] on 25 July 1905.² He held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.) for Nottinghamshire.² He held the office of Deputy Lieutenant (D.L.) of Nottinghamshire.²

     Harriet Tebbutt was born in 1835 at Bluntisham, Huntingdonshire, England^G.^1,2 She was the daughter of Matthew Tebbutt and Mary Anne Clarke.^3,1 She married Sir Thomas Isaac Birkin, 1st Bt., son of Richard Birkin and Mary Anne Walker, on 9 October 1856.³ She died on 28 July 1921.³
     She was also known as Harriet Terbutt.³ Her married name became Birkin.

     Matthew Tebbutt was born circa 1798.¹ He married Mary Anne Clarke, daughter of Robert Clarke and Ann Yorke.¹ He died in 1836.¹
     He was also known as Matthew Terbutt.² He lived at Bluntisham, St. Ives, Huntingdonshire, England^G.²
     He had four other children.¹

     Lt.-Col. William Evelyn Seely was born on 16 October 1902.¹ He was the son of Lt.-Col. Frank Evelyn Seely and Leila Eliza Russell.¹ He married Irene Lavender Francklin, daughter of Richard Francklin and Sybil Mary Curzon Sherbrooke, on 28 September 1927.¹ He died on 6 June 1942 at age 39 at Egypt^G, killed in action.¹
     He was Master of Fox Hounds, South Nottinghamshire.¹ He gained the rank of Lieutenant-Colonel in the South Nottinghamshire Hussars.¹ He fought in the Second World War.² He fought in the Battle of Knightsbridge on 6 June 1942.

     Irene Lavender Francklin was born in 1906.² She was the daughter of Richard Francklin and Sybil Mary Curzon Sherbrooke.² She married, firstly, Lt.-Col. William Evelyn Seely, son of Lt.-Col. Frank Evelyn Seely and Leila Eliza Russell, on 28 September 1927.¹ She married, secondly, Maj.-Gen. Sir Miles William Arthur Peel Graham, son of Major Henry Graham and Ellen Peel, on 28 June 1943.¹ She died on 30 September 1977.¹
     From 28 September 1927, her married name became Seely. From 28 June 1943, her married name became Graham.

     Sir Francis Willoughby was born in 1585. He was the son of Sir Percival Willoughby and Bridget Willoughby.² He married Lady Cassandra Ridgeway, daughter of Thomas Ridgeway, 1st Earl of Londonderry and Cicely MacWilliam.¹ He died on 17 December 1665.²
