     Richard Brinsley Portal was born on 30 November 1784.1 He was the son of Abraham Portal and Elizabeth Bedwell.1 He married Mary Woolston, daughter of Thomas Woolston, on 31 May 1807.2 He died on 1 October 1859 at age 74.1
     He lived at Daventry, Northamptonshire, England.2
