     Mary Enid Evelyn Guest was born on 1 July 1834.¹ She was the daughter of Sir Josiah John Guest, 1st Bt. and Lady Charlotte Elizabeth Bertie.¹ She married Sir Austen Henry Layard, son of Henry Peter John Layard and Marianne Austen, on 9 March 1869.² She died on 1 November 1912 at age 78 at Venice, Italy^G.¹
     From 9 March 1869, her married name became Layard.¹ She was appointed Dame of Grace, Most Venerable Order of the Hospital of St. John of Jerusalem (D.G.St.J.)³

     Edward Fitzherbert Gwavas Carlyon was born on 8 November 1861 at Tregrehan, Cornwall, England^G.¹ He was the son of George Gwavas Carlyon and Mary Ann Long.¹ He died on 25 September 1939 at age 77 at Gwavas Station, Hawkes Bay, New Zealand^G.¹
