     William Robert Kerans was born on 10 January 1836 at Ahascragh, County Galway, IrelandG.1 He was the son of Dr. Laurence Clark Kerans and Augusta Speedy.2 He married, firstly, Georgina Du Maresq, daughter of Captain unknown Du Maresq.2 He married, secondly, Anne Palmer, daughter of Thomas Palmer, on 18 November 1873 at St. Annes, Dublin, County Dublin, IrelandG.1 He died on 25 August 1914 at age 78 at St. Kilda, Parsontown, County Offaly, IrelandG.1
     He gained the rank of Surgeon-Major in the Army Medical Department.1
