John Shore, 1st Baron Teignmouth was born on 8 October 1751 at St. James’s Street, Picadilly, London, England.2 He was the son of Thomas Shore and Dorothy Shepherd.2 He married Charlotte Cornish, daughter of James Cornish and Margaret Floyer, on 14 February 1786 at Little Derham, Devon, England.2,3 He died on 14 February 1834 at age 82 at Portman Square, London, England.2,3
He was educated at Harrow School, Harrow, London, England.2 He held the office of Member of the Supreme Council [Bengal] between 1786 and 1789.4 He was created 1st Baronet Shore, of Heathcote, co. Derby [Great Britain] on 2 October 1792.2 He held the office of Governor-General of India between 1793 and 1798.2 He was created 1st Baron Teignmouth [Ireland] on 3 March 1798. He was president of the British and Foreign Bible Society on 14 May 1804.2
