He was educated at Queen’s College, Oxford University, Oxford, Oxfordshire, EnglandG.1 He was admitted to Lincoln’s Inn.1 He succeeded as the 3rd Baronet Tempest, of Stella, co. Durham [E., 1622] in August 1641.1 He gained the rank of Colonel of Horse in the Royalist Army, during the Civil War.1

William Widdrington, 4th Baron Widdrington of Blankney was the son of William Widdrington, 3rd Baron Widdrington and Hon. Alathea Fairfax.2 He married, firstly, Jane Tempest, daughter of Sir Thomas Tempest, 4th Bt. and Alice Hodgson, on 13 April 1700.1 He married, secondly, Hon. Catherine Graham, daughter of Richard Graham, 1st Viscount Preston and Lady Ann Howard, circa July 1718.3 He died on 19 April 1743.1
He gained the title of 4th Baron Widdrington of Blankney. He fought in the Jacobite Uprising in 1715.3 From January 1715/16 to February 1715/16 he was attainted.3
