Lt.-Col. James Webley Hope was born on 9 October 1903.1 He was the son of Lt.-Col. William Henry Webley Hope and Florence Hill.2 He married, firstly, Harriett Mary King, daughter of Henry Louis King and Winifred Harriet Ward, on 17 April 1928.1 He married, secondly, Veda Annie Campbell, daughter of Dr. Alfred Walter Campbell, on 22 February 1934.1 He died on 9 June 2011 at age 107.3
He fought in the Waziristan Campaign, where he was mentioned in despatches.1 He fought in the Second World War in 1945, in Burma.1 He was appointed Officer, Order of the British Empire (O.B.E.) in 1945.1 He retired from the military in 1950, with the rank of Lieutenant-Colonel, late of the South Wales Borderers.1 He lived in 2003 at SA4 Kenilworth Gardens, Bowral, New South Wales, AustraliaG.1
