     He was Secretary to Prince Charles Edward Stuart.1 He lived at Restalrig, Midlothian, ScotlandG.1 In 1745 he was attainted.1

     Anna Howard is the daughter of Sheffield Howard. She married, firstly, Major unknown Bingham.1 She married, secondly, Sir Thomas Hay of Alderston, 5th Bt., son of Alexander Hay and Jane Douglas Hamilton, on 2 January 1793.1
     Her married name became Bingham.1 From 2 January 1793, her married name became Hay.

Sir James Douglas Hamilton Hay of Alderston, 6th Bt.1

     Sir James Douglas Hamilton Hay of Alderston, 6th Bt. was born on 28 December 1800.1 He was the son of Sir Thomas Hay of Alderston, 5th Bt. and Anna Howard.1 He married Jane Sanders, daughter of William Sanders of Springbank, in 1819.1 He died on 30 July 1873 at age 72.1
     He was an Army Officer.1 He succeeded as the 6th Baronet Hay, of Alderston, East Lothian [N.S., 1703] in 1832.1

     Jane Sanders was the daughter of William Sanders of Springbank.1 She married Sir James Douglas Hamilton Hay of Alderston, 6th Bt., son of Sir Thomas Hay of Alderston, 5th Bt. and Anna Howard, in 1819.1 She died on 24 February 1888.1
     Her married name became Hay.

Sir Hector Maclean Hay of Alderston, 7th Bt.1

     Sir Hector Maclean Hay of Alderston, 7th Bt. was born on 28 March 1821.1 He was the son of Sir James Douglas Hamilton Hay of Alderston, 6th Bt. and Jane Sanders.1 He married, firstly, Ann Charlotte White, daughter of Dr. J. White, on 9 February 1852.1 He married, secondly, Julia (?) on 24 January 1889.1 He married, thirdly, Florence Anne Wilkinson on 26 September 1906.1 He died on 15 September 1916 at age 95, without issue.1
     He succeeded as the 7th Baronet Hay, of Alderston, East Lothian [N.S., 1703] on 30 July 1873.1
