     Louisa Sophia Layard was born on 20 May 1811 at Kalutara, Sri Lanka.3 She was the daughter of Charles Edward Layard and Barbara Bridgetina Mooyaart.4,3 She married William Charles Gibson, son of Lewis Gibson and Caroline Layard, on 15 September 1834.1 She died on 17 January 1870 at age 58.1
     From 15 September 1834, her married name became Gibson.
