     Hon. Waveney Mancroft Samuel was born on 25 February 1916.2 She was the daughter of Sir Arthur Samuel, 1st Baron Mancroft and Phoebe Fletcher.2 She married Anthony William Garthwaite, son of Sir William Garthwaite, 1st Bt. and Janet Rodrigues, on 1 December 1950.1 She died in 1986.1
     From 1 December 1950, her married name became Garthwaite.
