     Robert Meredith Gamble was born on 31 January 1909.1 He was the son of Sir David Gamble, 3rd Bt. and Eveline Frances Josephine Cole.2 He married, firstly, Phyllis Mary Bradbury, daughter of Charles E Bradbury, on 17 October 1931.1 He and Phyllis Mary Bradbury were divorced in 1940.1 He married, secondly, Diana Burnaby Drayson, daughter of Walter Francis Drayson, on 3 February 1940. He died on 1 August 1988 at age 79.1,3
     He gained the rank of Captain in the Wiltshire Regiment.1
