     John Scott, 6th of Gala was born in April 1732.1 He was the son of Hugh Scott, 5th of Gala and Elizabeth Stewart.2 He married Anne Hay-Makdougall, daughter of Sir George Hay-Makdougall of Alderston, 3rd Bt. and Barbara Makdougall.1 He died in 1785.1
