Herbert Mark Garrett Purvis and Elizabeth Jane Grogan.1 He married May Peel, daughter of William Felton Peel and Sarah Edith Willoughby, on 18 September 1900 at Parish Church, Tamworth, Staffordshire, EnglandG.1 He died in 1936 at Home Close, Burghfield Common, Berkshire, EnglandG.1
     He was commissioned on 17 July 1872, in the service of the Royal Navy.1 He retired from the military in 1890, with the rank of Lieutenant.1 He was Director-General of the Egyptian Coastguard Service in 1918.1
