He was educated at Eton College, Windsor, Berkshire, EnglandG.1 He fought in the Second World War, in Greece, Egypt, Tunisia and Italy.1 He was awarded the Military Cross (M.C.) in 1943.1 He gained the rank of Lieutenant-Colonel in 1941 in the Grenadier Guards.1 He succeeded as the 2nd Baron Freyberg, of Wellington, New Zealand and of Munstead, co. Surrey [U.K., 1951] on 4 July 1963.1 He was appointed Officer, Order of the British Empire (O.B.E.) in 1965.1 He was commander of the Honourable Artillery Company, Infantry Battalion between 1965 and 1968.1
