     John Forbes-Mitchell of Thainstone was born on 21 March 1786.¹ He was the son of Duncan Forbes-Mitchell of Thainstone and Katherine Ann Fraser.² He married Ann Powell, daughter of Lt.-Col. George Powell, on 8 February 1809.¹ He died on 9 July 1822 at age 36.¹
     He had one other son who died young.¹

     Lt.-Col. George Powell gained the rank of Lieutenant-Colonel in the Honourable East India Company Service.¹

     Ann Powell was the daughter of Lt.-Col. George Powell.² She married John Forbes-Mitchell of Thainstone, son of Duncan Forbes-Mitchell of Thainstone and Katherine Ann Fraser, on 8 February 1809.¹ She died in September 1861.¹
     From 8 February 1809, her married name became Forbes-Mitchell.

     Duncan Forbes-Mitchell of Thainstone was born on 30 October 1812.¹ He was the son of John Forbes-Mitchell of Thainstone and Ann Powell.² He married Maria Bromley, daughter of Lt.-Col. Robert Anthony Bromley, on 18 February 1834.¹ He died on 13 August 1870 at age 57, with a daughter (died unm):.¹
     He held the office of Deputy Lieutenant (D.L.)¹ He held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.)¹ He also had a daughter who died young.¹

     Lt.-Col. Robert Anthony Bromley gained the rank of Lieutenant-Colonel in the Honourable East India Company Service.¹

     Maria Bromley was the daughter of Lt.-Col. Robert Anthony Bromley.² She married Duncan Forbes-Mitchell of Thainstone, son of John Forbes-Mitchell of Thainstone and Ann Powell, on 18 February 1834.¹ She died in 1892.¹
     From 18 February 1834, her married name became Forbes-Mitchell.

     John Forbes-Mitchell of Thainstone was born on 25 June 1843.¹ He was the son of Duncan Forbes-Mitchell of Thainstone and Maria Bromley.² He married Jane Maria Rawson, daughter of Thomas James Rawson, on 28 July 1870.¹ He died on 25 April 1882 at age 38, without issue.¹
     He held the office of Deputy Lieutenant (D.L.)¹ He held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.)¹

     Thomas James Rawson married Janet Sempill Forbes, daughter of Alexander Forbes and Janet Forbes, on 10 November 1863.²
     He lived at Barrowville, County Carlow, Ireland^G.¹ He graduated with a Doctor of Medicine (M.D.)¹

     Jane Maria Rawson was the daughter of Thomas James Rawson.² She married John Forbes-Mitchell of Thainstone, son of Duncan Forbes-Mitchell of Thainstone and Maria Bromley, on 28 July 1870.¹ She died on 13 October 1919.¹
     From 28 July 1870, her married name became Forbes-Mitchell.

     Maria Forbes-Mitchell is the daughter of Duncan Forbes-Mitchell of Thainstone and Maria Bromley.² She married John Alexander Stuart on 20 July 1878.¹
     From 20 July 1878, her married name became Stuart.
