     John Alexander Stuart married Maria Forbes-Mitchell, daughter of Duncan Forbes-Mitchell of Thainstone and Maria Bromley, on 20 July 1878.¹
     He was with the Admiralty and War Office.¹

     Elizabeth Erskine Forbes-Mitchell was the daughter of Duncan Forbes-Mitchell of Thainstone and Maria Bromley.² She married Lt.-Col. John Nathaniel Gower on 20 September 1870.¹ She died on 17 May 1928.¹
     From 20 September 1870, her married name became Gower.

     Lt.-Col. John Nathaniel Gower married Elizabeth Erskine Forbes-Mitchell, daughter of Duncan Forbes-Mitchell of Thainstone and Maria Bromley, on 20 September 1870.¹ He died in 1905.¹
     He gained the rank of Lieutenant-Colonel in the 78th Regiment.¹

     Major John George Forbes-Mitchell was born on 4 March 1814.¹ He was the son of John Forbes-Mitchell of Thainstone and Ann Powell.² He married Eliza Maria Leckie, daughter of John Leckie, on 17 June 1837.¹ He died on 29 April 1860 at age 46.¹
     He gained the rank of Major in the Honourable East India Company Service.¹

     Eliza Maria Leckie was the daughter of John Leckie.² She married Major John George Forbes-Mitchell, son of John Forbes-Mitchell of Thainstone and Ann Powell, on 17 June 1837.¹ She died on 10 July 1857.¹
     From 17 June 1837, her married name became Forbes-Mitchell.

     Maj.-Gen. Charles Pulteney Forbes-Mitchell was born on 29 November 1840.¹ He was the son of Major John George Forbes-Mitchell and Eliza Maria Leckie.² He married Hannah Sims, daughter of John Sims, on 13 January 1864.¹ He died on 12 April 1919 at age 78.¹
     He gained the rank of Major-General in the Prince of Wales’ Leinster Regiment.¹

     Hannah Sims was the daughter of John Sims.² She married Maj.-Gen. Charles Pulteney Forbes-Mitchell, son of Major John George Forbes-Mitchell and Eliza Maria Leckie, on 13 January 1864.¹ She died on 28 February 1931.¹
     From 13 January 1864, her married name became Forbes-Mitchell.

     William Erskine Forbes-Mitchell was born on 14 August 1847.¹ He was the son of Major John George Forbes-Mitchell and Eliza Maria Leckie.² He died on 14 June 1877 at age 29, unmarried.¹
