     Walter Urquhart was born in 1535.1 He was the son of Alexander Urquhart of Cromarty and Beatrice Innes.1 He married, firstly, Elizabeth MacKenzie, daughter of Kenneth ‘na cuire’ Mackenzie, 10th of Kintail and Lady Elizabeth Stewart.1 He married, secondly, Elizabeth Rose, daughter of Hugh Rose, 10th of Kilravock, in 1579.2 He died in 1589.1
     He held the office of Hereditary Sheriff of Cromarty.1
