     From 15 July 1844, her married name became Balfour.1 From 1893, her married name became Balfour-Melville.1

     James Balfour-Melville was born in 1815 at Edinburgh, Midlothian, ScotlandG.1 He was the son of James Balfour, 4th of Pilrig and Anne Mackintosh.1 He was baptised on 28 February 1815 at St. Cuthbert’s, Edinburgh, Midlothian, ScotlandG.1 He married Eliza Ogilvy Maitland-Heriot, daughter of James Maitland-Heriot and Margaret Dalgleish, on 15 July 1844 at Kettle, Fife, ScotlandG.1 He died on 14 May 1898 at St. Andrews, Fife, ScotlandG.1
     He was given the name of James Balfour at birth.1 He was a practising Writer to the Signet (W.S.)1 In 1893 his name was legally changed to James Balfour-Melville.1
