     William Farquharson of Inverey and Balmoral was the son of James Farquharson, 1st of Inverey and Catherine Gordon.2 He married, firstly, Isobel Farquharson, daughter of John Farquharson, 4th of Invercauld and Margaret Barclay.1 He married, secondly, Anne Gordon, daughter of Alexander Gordon, 7th of Abergeldie.1 He died circa 1685.1
     He also had two daughters.1 He fought in the Battle of Alford on 2 July 1645, leading the Strathdu men, under the Marquess of Montrose.1
