He was educated at Bradfield College, Bradfield, Reading, Berkshire, EnglandG.1 He was educated at Jesus College, Cambridge University, Cambridge, Cambridgeshire, EnglandG.1 He held the office of Member of the Somerset County Council.1 He was awarded the Royal Naval Volunteer Reserve Officers’ Decoration (V.D.)1 He succeeded as the 8th Baronet Elton, of Bristol [G.B., 1717] on 14 October 1883.1 He held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.) for Somerset.1 He gained the rank of Major and Honorary Lieutenant-Colonel in the 1st Volunteer Battalion, Gloucester Artillery.1 He held the office of High Sheriff of Somerset in 1895.1
