Henry Schroder Wagg.2 He held the office of Deputy Lieutenant (D.L.) of Oxfordshire between 1974 and 1980.2 He succeeded as the 2nd Baronet Ponsonby, of Wootton, co. Oxford [U.K., 1956] in 1976.2 He held the office of Lord-Lieutenant of Oxfordshire between 1980 and 1996.2 He was appointed Knight, Most Venerable Order of the Hospital of St. John of Jerusalem (K.St.J.) in 1989.2 He was appointed Knight Commander, Royal Victorian Order (K.C.V.O.) in 1993.2 He lived in 2003 at Grim’s Dyke Farm, Woodstock, Oxfordshire, EnglandG.2

He was educated at Eton College, Windsor, Berkshire, EnglandG.2 He graduated from Balliol College, Oxford University, Oxford, Oxfordshire, EnglandG, in 1901 with a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.)2 He fought in the First World War, where he was wounded.2 He was awarded the Croix de Guerre.2 He was awarded the Territorial Decoration (T.D.)2 He was Colonel and Brevet Colonel of the 97th (Kent Yeomanry) Field Brigade, Royal Artillery between 1930 and 1936.2 He held the office of Deputy Lieutenant (D.L.) of Oxfordshire in 1944.2 He was created 1st Baronet Ponsonby, of Wootton, co. Oxford [U.K.] on 27 January 1956.1
