     William Hamilton, 3rd of Wishaw was the son of William Hamilton, 1st of Wishaw and Beatrix Douglas.2,1 He married, firstly, Anne Hamilton, daughter of John Hamilton, 7th of Udston, in 1660.2 He married, secondly, Mary Erskine, daughter of Hon. Sir Charles Erskine of Alva, on 31 August 1676.2 He died in 1724.1
     He was an antiquary.2 He lived at Wishaw, ScotlandG.1
     He had eight other sons by his first wife.2
