     James Archibald Stewart Macpherson was born on 19 October 1902.¹ He was the son of Sir Thomas Stewart Macpherson and Helen Cameron.² He married Elsie Margaret Giles, daughter of Dr. Alexander Bruce Giles, on 10 September 1934.¹ He died on 15 January 1959 at age 56.¹
