Reverend Erasmus Middleton1 
Reverend Erasmus Middleton was born on 25 April 1739 at Horncastle, Lincolnshire, EnglandG.2 He was the son of Erasmus Middleton and Ann Wilson.2 He was baptised on 30 May 1739 at Horncastle, Lincolnshire, EnglandG.2 He married Margaret Elizabeth Grierson, daughter of Sir Gilbert Grierson of Lag, 4th Bt. and Elizabeth Maitland, in 1779 at Dalkeith, Midlothian, ScotlandG.1 He died on 25 April 1805 at age 66 at Turvey, Bedfordshire, EnglandG.2
He was educated at Kingswood School, Kingswood, Bristol, EnglandG.2 He matriculated at St. Edmund Hall, Oxford University, Oxford, Oxfordshire, EnglandG, on 4 June 1767.2 On 11 March 1768 he was expelled from Oxford for publically praying and preaching at Methodist meetings.2 He graduated from King’s College, Cambridge University, Cambridge, Cambridgeshire, EnglandG, with a Bachelor of Divinity (B.D.)2 He was editor of the Gospel Magazine.2 He wrote the book Biographia Evangelica, published between 1779 and 1786.2 He was the Rector in 1804 at Turvey, Bedfordshire, EnglandG.2 He wrote the book Versions and Imitations of Psalms, published 1806.2 He wrote the book Life of Luther, published 1807.2
