Sir James Makgill1 
He was allegedly an early supporter of the Reformation.1 He held the office of Provost of Edinburgh, during the reign of King James V.1 He sold his lands in Galloway and the lands of Park of Stibbery, Lanarkshire between 1526 and 1536.1 On 7 September 1538 he acquired by charter lands of Liberton Burn and Senis, near Edinburgh.1
