     Lt.-Gen. Robert Brereton was born in 1747.1 He was the son of Major William Brereton and Marion Edmonston.2 He married Margaret Elizabeth Dexter, daughter of John Dexter and Anne Fish, on 2 March 1809.1 He died on 30 June 1816.1
     He gained the rank of Lieutenant-General in the Army.1 He was commander of the Southern District, Ireland.1 He held the office of Governor of St. Lucia between 1803 and 1807.1 He purchased New Abbey in 1807 from Janetta Brereton.1 He lived at New Abbey, Kilcullen, County Kildare, IrelandG.1

     Margaret Elizabeth Dexter was the daughter of John Dexter and Anne Fish.2,1 She married Lt.-Gen. Robert Brereton, son of Major William Brereton and Marion Edmonston, on 2 March 1809.1 She died on 14 April 1850.1
     From 2 March 1809, her married name became Brereton.

Major Robert Brereton1

     Major Robert Brereton was born illegitimately on 25 September 1788.1 He was the son of Lt.-Gen. Robert Brereton.2 He married Henrietta Dasant Sadler in September 1816.1 He died on 5 August 1852 at age 63.1
     He lived at Clifton College, Clifton, Bristol, EnglandG.1 He retired from the military in 1842, with the rank of Major, late of the Black Watch.1

Henrietta Dasant Sadler1

     Robert Edward Perceval Brereton was born on 26 April 1821.1 He was the son of Major Robert Brereton and Henrietta Dasant Sadler.2 He married Caroline Lavinia Bridget Sabine, daughter of John Sabine.1 He died on 5 October 1853 at age 32, without issue.1
     He gained the rank of Lieutenant in the 76th Foot.1

Caroline Lavinia Bridget Sabine1

     Caroline Lavinia Bridget Sabine was the daughter of John Sabine.1 She married, firstly, Robert Edward Perceval Brereton, son of Major Robert Brereton and Henrietta Dasant Sadler.1 She married, secondly, Richard Tilyer Blunt, son of Captain Thomas Tilyer Blunt, on 9 February 1857.1 She married, thirdly, Brereton Frederick Hall Todd, son of Francis Todd and Caroline Perceval Brereton, in November 1876.1 She died on 9 May 1906.1
     Her married name became Brereton. From 9 February 1857, her married name became Blunt.1 From November 1876, her married name became Todd.1

     William Paul Barry Brereton was born on 13 February 1843.1 He was the son of Major William Robert Brereton and Catherine King Barry.2 He married Maria Jane Elliott, daughter of Charles B. Elliott, on 20 June 1877.1 He died on 17 March 1886 at age 43.1
     He was educated at Royal Military College, Sandhurst, Berkshire, EnglandG.1 He gained the rank of Captain in the 69th and 35th Regiments.1
