Major William Robert Brereton1

     Major William Robert Brereton was born on 14 May 1816.2 He was the son of Lt.-Gen. Robert Brereton and Margaret Elizabeth Dexter.2 He married, firstly, Catherine King Barry, daughter of Paul Barry and Elizabeth Kennedy, on 14 April 1842.1 He married, secondly, Henrietta Frances Beke Kennan, daughter of Captain Thomas Ynyr Burges Kennan and Eliza Yarde, on 15 April 1869.2 He died on 30 August 1906 at age 90.1
     He gained the rank of Captain in the 70th Regiment.2 He held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.) for County Kildare.2 He retired from the military in 1872, with the rank of Honorary Major, late of the Royal Brecknock Militia.2 He lived at New Abbey, County Kildare, IrelandG.1 He lived at Annfield, County Kildare, IrelandG.2

Ann Barry1
