     He graduated from Trinity College, Dublin University, Dublin, County Dublin, Ireland^G, with a Master of Arts (M.A.)¹ He was a Demonstrator at Cavendish Laboratory, Cambridge, Cambridgeshire, England^G.¹ He was appointed Fellow, Royal Society (F.R.S.) in 1903.¹ He was Wykeham Professor of Physies at Oxford University, Oxford, Oxfordshire, England^G.¹ He was awarded the honorary degree of Doctor of Science (D.Sc.) by Paris, France^G.¹ He was awarded the Chevalier, Ordre national de la Légion d’honneur.¹ He was appointed Knight Bachelor in 1941.¹

     Peter FitzWalter Lambert was born on 8 December 1848.² He was the son of Walter Peter Lambert and Elizabeth McO’Boy.² He married Julia Mary Hewetson, daughter of Colonel Henry Alexander Hewetson, on 7 July 1887.² He died on 24 February 1894 at age 45.²
     He held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.) for County Galway.² He held the office of High Sheriff of County Galway in 1891.² He lived at Castle Ellen, County Galway, Ireland^G.²

     Mary Georgiana Lambert is the daughter of Peter FitzWalter Lambert and Julia Mary Hewetson.² She married Sir John Sealy Edward Townsend, son of Edward Townsend and Judith Townsend, on 5 June 1911.¹
     From 5 June 1911, her married name became Townsend. She held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.) for Oxford City.¹ She was appointed Officer, Order of the British Empire (O.B.E.) in 1957.¹ She lived in 1976 at 3 Belsyre Court, Observatory Street, Oxford, Oxfordshire, England^G.¹

     Lt.-Col. Edward Walter Townsend was born on 7 August 1912.¹ He is the son of Sir John Sealy Edward Townsend and Mary Georgiana Lambert.² He married, firstly, Mary Euphemia Heymann, daughter of Brigadier F. A. Heymann, on 16 May 1940.¹ He married, secondly, Stella Margaret White, daughter of P. G. White, on 24 April 1947.¹
     He was educated at Winchester College, Winchester, Hampshire, England^G.¹ He was educated at New College, Oxford University, Oxford, Oxfordshire, England^G.¹ He gained the rank of Lieutenant-Colonel in the Royal Signals.¹ He fought in the Second World War.¹ He was awarded the Order of Leopold of Belgium.¹ He was awarded the Croix de Guerre Belgian.¹ He had tw daughters by his first wife, and a son and three daughters by his seocnd wife.¹

     Sir Thomas Bewley held the office of Judge of the Supreme Court of Judicature [Ireland].¹ He was awarded the honorary degree of Doctor of Law (LL.D.)¹

     Stella Margaret White is the daughter of P. G. White.² She married Lt.-Col. Edward Walter Townsend, son of Sir John Sealy Edward Townsend and Mary Georgiana Lambert, on 24 April 1947.¹
     From 24 April 1947, her married name became Townsend.¹

     John Henry Townsend was born on 7 June 1914.¹ He is the son of Sir John Sealy Edward Townsend and Mary Georgiana Lambert.² He married, firstly, Lena Moncrieff Westropp, daughter of Captain R. G. Westropp, on 7 May 1948.¹ He married, secondly, Suzanne Marian Richardson, daughter of Donald Southwell Richardson, on 17 February 1965.¹
     He was educated at Winchester College, Winchester, Hampshire, England^G.¹ He graduated from Magdalen College, Oxford University, Oxford, Oxfordshire, England^G, in 1936 with a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.)¹ He was a director of ICI.¹
