He was educated at Blundell’s School, Tiverton, Devon, EnglandG.2 He gained the rank of officer in the Royal Signals.4 He succeeded as the 9th Baron Auckland [I., 1789] on 14 September 1957.2 He succeeded as the 9th Baron Auckland, of West Auckland, co. Durham [G.B., 1793] on 14 September 1957.2 Between 1958 and 1964 a member of Lloyd’s.4 He was an insurance consultant.4 He was a director of C.J. Sims & Company.4
