     Clara Elizabeth Lake was born on 30 July 1846 at Suffolk, England.2 She was the daughter of Captain Edward Lake and Clara Johnston.3 She married Lt.-Col. James Crofton, son of Captain Morgan Crofton and Helen Elizabeth O’Hara, on 5 March 1867 at Lahore, Pakistan.1,2 She died on 16 December 1890 at age 44.3
     From 5 March 1867, her married name became Crofton.

     He gained the rank of Major in the Royal Garrison Artillery.1 He gained the rank of Major in the Royal Army Ordnance Corps.1
