He graduated from Keble College, Oxford University, Oxford, Oxfordshire, EnglandG, with a Master of Arts (M.A.)1 He was a Curate between 1905 and 1910 at St. Mary, Slough, EnglandG.1 He was a missionary for the Society for the Propogation of the Gospel in 1910 at Ahmednager, IndiaG.1 He gained the rank of Captain in the 1st Volunteer Battalion, Oxfordshire Light Infantry.1 He held the office of Bishop of Bombay between 1920 and 1947.1 He was Secretary of the Society for the Propogation of the Gospel between 1925 and 1929.1 He was awarded the Kaisar-i-Hind Gold Medal in 1947.1 He held the office of Assistant Bishop of Bath and Wells between 1948 and 1954.1
