He was also known as Robert Lucas Tooth.1 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) [New South Wales] between 1879 and 1884, for Monaro.1 He was Lord of the Manor of Holme Lacy.1 He held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.) for Herefordshire.1 On 15 August 1904 his name was legally changed to Robert Lucas-Tooth by Royal Licence.1 He was created 1st Baronet Lucas-Tooth, of Queen’s Gate, Kensington and Kamaruka, New South Wales [U.K.] on 26 July 1906.1
