     James Carnegie was born on 8 January 1773.¹ He was the son of George Carnegie and Susan Scott.¹ He married Margaret Gillespie, daughter of John Gillespie, in December 1801.¹ He died on 18 December 1851 at age 78.¹
     He gained the rank of Captain in the Honourable East India Company Naval Service.¹ He also had five daughters.¹

     Margaret Gillespie was the daughter of John Gillespie.¹ She married James Carnegie, son of George Carnegie and Susan Scott, in December 1801.¹ She died on 25 February 1828.¹

     Charlotte Edmonstone was the daughter of Neil Benjamin Edmonstone and Charlotte Anne Friell.¹ She married, firstly, James Carnegie, son of James Carnegie and Margaret Gillespie, in 1829.¹ She married, secondly, Reverend John Hodgson on 19 August 1845.¹ She died on 13 November 1878.¹
     From 1829, her married name became Carnegie.¹ From 19 August 1845, her married name became Hodgson.¹

     Paula (?) married Lionel Edward Fitzgerald, son of Lionel Lemoine Fitzgerald and Felicia Wright.¹
     Her married name became Fitzgerald.¹

     Reverend John Hodgson married Charlotte Edmonstone, daughter of Neil Benjamin Edmonstone and Charlotte Anne Friell, on 19 August 1845.¹

     David Carnegie was born on 3 May 1813.¹ He was the son of James Carnegie and Margaret Gillespie.¹ He married, firstly, Julie Zeuthen, daughter of Etatsraad Zeuthen, on 16 May 1839.¹ He married, secondly, Susan Mary Anne Carnegie, daughter of David Carnegie and unknown wife (?), in November 1845.¹ He died on 15 February 1890 at age 76.¹
     He was a partner in the firm of his uncle, David Carnegie in 1830 at Gothenburg, Sweden^G.¹ He purchased the Stronvar estate in 1849.¹ He purchased Eastbury in 1857.¹ He held the office of High Sheriff of Hertfordshire in 1877.¹ He held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.) for Perthshire.¹ He held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.) for Hertfordshire.¹ He held the office of Deputy Lieutenant (D.L.) of Perthshire.¹ He lived in 1889 at Stronvar, Perthshire, Scotland^G.¹
