     John Egerton, 2nd Earl of Bridgwater was born in June 1623.² He was the son of John Egerton, 1st Earl of Bridgwater and Lady Frances Stanley.² He married Lady Elizabeth Cavendish, daughter of William Cavendish, 1st Duke of Newcastle-upon-Tyne and Elizabeth Basset, on 22 July 1641 at St. James’, Clerkenwell, London, England^G.³ He died on 26 October 1686 at age 63 at The Barbican, Red Cross Street, London, England^G.² He was buried on 4 November 1686 at Little Gaddesden, Hertfordshire, England^G.² His will was proven (by probate) in May 1687.²
     He succeeded as the 2nd Earl of Bridgwater [E., 1617] on 4 December 1649.² He succeeded as the 3rd Viscount Brackley [E., 1616] on 4 December 1649.² He succeeded as the 3rd Baron of Ellesmere, co. Shropshire [E., 1603] on 4 December 1649.² He held the office of Lord-Lieutenant of Buckinghamshire between 1660 and 1686.² He was High Steward between 1663 and 1686 at Oxford University, Oxford, Oxfordshire, England^G.² He graduated from Oxford University, Oxford, Oxfordshire, England^G, on 24 May 1663 with a Master of Arts (M.A.)² He was appointed Privy Counsellor (P.C.) on 13 February 1666/67.² He held the office of Lord-Lieutenant of Chester between 1670 and 1676.² He held the office of Lord-Lieutenant of Lancaster between 1670 and 1676.² He held the office of Lord-Lieutenant of Hertfordshire between 1681 and 1686.²

     Philip Sydney, 5th Earl of Leicester was born on 8 July 1676.¹ He was the son of Robert Sydney, 4th Earl of Leicester and Lady Elizabeth Egerton.¹ He was baptised on 12 July 1676 at St. Giles, Cripplegate, London, England.² He married Anne Reeve, daughter of Sir Robert Reeve, 2nd Bt., on 17 December 1700.¹ He died on 24 July 1705 at age 29, without issue.¹
     He was also known as Phillip Sidney.² He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) (Whig) for KEnt between 1695 and 1698.¹ He succeeded as the 5th Baron Sydney of Penshurst, co. Kent [E., 1603] on 11 November 1702.¹ He succeeded as the 5th Viscount L’Isle [E., 1605] on 11 November 1702.¹ He succeeded as the 5th Earl of Leicester [E., 1618] on 11 November 1702.¹

     Anne Reeve is the daughter of Sir Robert Reeve, 2nd Bt.¹ She married Philip Sydney, 5th Earl of Leicester, son of Robert Sydney, 4th Earl of Leicester and Lady Elizabeth Egerton, on 17 December 1700.¹
     Her married name became Sydney.

     Sir Robert Reeve, 2nd Bt. is the son of Sir George Reeve, 1st Bt. and Philippa Bacon. He married Mary Onslow, daughter of Sir Arthur Onslow, 1st Bt. and Mary Foote.
     He gained the title of 2nd Baronet Reeve, of Thwaite, Suffolk. He was also known as Thomas Reeve.¹

     John Sydney, 6th Earl of Leicester was born on 14 February 1679/80.¹ He was the son of Robert Sydney, 4th Earl of Leicester and Lady Elizabeth Egerton.¹ He was baptised on 17 February 1679/80 at St. Giles, Cripplegate, London, England.³ He died on 27 February 1737 at age 57, unmarried.¹
     He was also known as John Sidney.³ He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) (Whig) for Brackley from May 1705 to July 1705.¹ He succeeded as the 6th Baron Sydney of Penshurst, co. Kent [E., 1603] on 24 July 1705.¹ He gained the title of 6th Earl of Leicester [E., 1618] on 24 July 1705.¹ He succeeded as the 6th Viscount L’Isle [E., 1605] on 24 July 1705.¹ He was appointed Knight, Order of the Bath (K.B.) in 1725.¹ He was appointed Privy Counsellor (P.C.) in 1731.¹ He gained the rank of Lieutenant-Colonel in the 1st Foot Guards.¹

     Colonel Hon. Thomas Sydney was the son of Robert Sydney, 4th Earl of Leicester and Lady Elizabeth Egerton.¹ He married Mary Reeve, daughter of Sir Robert Reeve, 2nd Bt..¹ He died in 1728.¹
     He was also known as Thomas Sidney.²

     Jocelyn Sydney, 7th Earl of Leicester was born circa 1692.¹ He was the son of Robert Sydney, 4th Earl of Leicester and Lady Elizabeth Egerton.¹ He married Elizabeth Thomas, daughter of Lewis Thomas, in February 1717.¹ He died on 7 July 1743, without male issue.¹ He was buried on 16 July 1743 at Penshurst, Kent, England.²
     He was also known as Joseline Sidney.² He was educated at University College, Oxford University, Oxford, Oxfordshire, England^G.¹ He succeeded as the 7th Earl of Leicester [E., 1618] on 27 February 1737.¹ He succeeded as the 7th Baron Sydney of Penshurst, co. Kent [E., 1603] on 27 February 1737.¹ He succeeded as the 7th Viscount L’Isle [E., 1605] on 27 February 1737.¹ On his death all of his titles became extinct.¹

     Elizabeth Thomas was the daughter of Lewis Thomas.¹ She married Jocelyn Sydney, 7th Earl of Leicester, son of Robert Sydney, 4th Earl of Leicester and Lady Elizabeth Egerton, in February 1717.¹ She died on 14 November 1747.¹
     Her married name became Sydney.

     Lewis Thomas lived at Gwernllwynwith, Glamorgan, Wales^G.¹

     Elizabeth Sydney was the daughter of Robert Sydney, 4th Earl of Leicester and Lady Elizabeth Egerton.
