     Captain Cuthbert Francis Bond Bowlby was born on 23 August 1895 at Buckinghamshire, England.^1,2 He was the son of Reverend Henry Thomas Bowlby and Annie Margaret Gedge.¹ He married Isobel Murray Thorburn, daughter of Colonel William Thorburn, 1st of Craigerne and Isabella Murray, in 1920.¹ He died on 31 May 1969 at age 73 at Romsey, Hampshire, England.²
     He was educated at Royal Naval College, Osborne, Isle of Wight, England^G.¹ He was educated at Royal Naval College, Dartmouth, Devon, England^G.¹ He fought in the First World War between 1914 and 1918.¹ He was awarded the Distinguished Service Cross (D.S.C.) in 1918.¹ He gained the rank of Captain in the Royal Navy.¹ He fought in the Second World War between 1939 and 1945.¹ He was appointed Commander, Order of the British Empire (C.B.E.) in 1945.¹ He was with the Foreign Service between 1945 and 1955.¹ He was appointed Companion, Order of St. Michael and St. George (C.M.G.) in 1956.¹ He lived in 1965 at Roundhill Lodge, Bramshaw, Lyndhurst, Hampshire, England^G.¹

     Isobel Murray Thorburn was born in 1891.² She was the daughter of Colonel William Thorburn, 1st of Craigerne and Isabella Murray.^1,2 She married Captain Cuthbert Francis Bond Bowlby, son of Reverend Henry Thomas Bowlby and Annie Margaret Gedge, in 1920.¹ She died on 21 September 1969.²
     From 1920, her married name became Bowlby.¹

     Colonel William Thorburn, 1st of Craigerne was born in 1847.² He was the son of Walter Thorburn and Jane Grieve.² He married Isabella Murray, daughter of Robert Murray, in 1877.² He died in 1926.²
     He lived at Craigerne, Peebles-shire, Scotland^G.¹ He held the office of Deputy Lieutenant (D.L.)¹

     Cuthbert Peter Ronald Bowlby was born on 31 January 1922.¹ He was the son of Captain Cuthbert Francis Bond Bowlby and Isobel Murray Thorburn.¹ He married Rosemary Isabella Webb, daughter of Lt.-Col. William Francis Richmond Webb, on 15 April 1950.¹ He died on 20 February 2006 at age 84.²

     Rosemary Isabella Webb was the daughter of Lt.-Col. William Francis Richmond Webb.¹ She married Cuthbert Peter Ronald Bowlby, son of Captain Cuthbert Francis Bond Bowlby and Isobel Murray Thorburn, on 15 April 1950.¹ She died on 7 September 2009.²
     From 15 April 1950, her married name became Bowlby.¹
