     Sarah Westrop was the natural daughter and eventual heiress of Beauchamp Bagenal.² From October 1785, her married name became Newton.¹ She lived at Dunleckney, Bagenalstown, County Carlow, Ireland^G.¹

     Philip Bagenal was born in 1796.¹ He was the son of Colonel Philip Newton and Sarah Westrop.¹ He married Georgiana Thomasina Boyd, daughter of Major James Boyd and Georgiana Jocelyn, in 1838.¹ He died on 24 June 1856.¹
     He was given the name of Philip Newton at birth.¹ He was educated at Eton College, Windsor, Berkshire, England^G.¹ He was educated at Christ Church, Oxford University, Oxford, Oxfordshire, England^G.¹ On 6 March 1832 his name was legally changed to Philip Bagenal when he assumed the surname and arms of Bagenal only in lieu of his patronymic by Royal Licence. This was done accordance with the express wishes of his mother and his grandfather, from whom he thereby inherited the family estates.¹ He lived at Benekerry, Carlow, County Carlow, Ireland^G.¹

     Georgiana Thomasina Boyd was the daughter of Major James Boyd and Georgiana Jocelyn.¹ She married Philip Bagenal, son of Colonel Philip Newton and Sarah Westrop, in 1838.¹ She died on 1 March 1897.¹
     From 1838, her married name became Bagenal.¹

     Major James Boyd married Georgiana Jocelyn, daughter of Hon. George Jocelyn and Thomasine Bowen, in 1813.¹
     He gained the rank of Major in the King’s Dragoon Guards.¹ He lived at Rosslare House, Rosslare, County Wexford, Ireland^G.¹
