     Stephen Edward Poyntz was born on 22 September 1835.¹ He was the son of Edward Henry Poyntz and Mary Frances Massy.² He married Dorothy Ann Thorold, daughter of James Thorold, on 29 January 1864.¹
     He gained the rank of Lieutenant in the Royal Navy.¹ He emigrated to New Zealand^G arriving on 1856.¹

     James Thorold lived at Timaru, New Zealand^G.¹

     Dorothy Ann Thorold is the daughter of James Thorold.² She married Stephen Edward Poyntz, son of Edward Henry Poyntz and Mary Frances Massy, on 29 January 1864.¹
     From 29 January 1864, her married name became Poyntz.

     Edward Henry Poyntz was born on 18 April 1868.¹ He was the son of Stephen Edward Poyntz and Dorothy Ann Thorold.²

     William Hampden Poyntz was born on 9 August 1873.¹ He was the son of Stephen Edward Poyntz and Dorothy Ann Thorold.²

     William James Poyntz was born on 17 October 1836.¹ He was the son of Edward Henry Poyntz and Mary Frances Massy.² He died on 10 July 1837.¹

     Major William Henry Poyntz was born on 24 October 1838.¹ He was the son of Edward Henry Poyntz and Mary Frances Massy.² He married Henrietta Emily Laycock, daughter of Henry Stainton Laycock, on 19 February 1870.¹ He died on 21 October 1892 at age 53.¹
     He gained the rank of Major in the Royal Marines Light Infantry.¹ He was Chief Constable of Essex.¹

     Dorothea Alice Bennett is the daughter of Colonel William Bennett.¹ She married Sir Francis Ferdinand Maurice Cook, 4th Bt., son of Sir Herbert Frederick Cook, 3rd Bt. and Hon. Mary Hood, on 25 February 1933.¹ She and Sir Francis Ferdinand Maurice Cook, 4th Bt. were divorced in 1935.¹
     From 25 February 1933, her married name became Cook.¹

     Henry Stainton Laycock was a practising Barrister-at-law.¹ He lived at Winkfield, Berkshire, England^G.¹

     Henrietta Emily Laycock was the daughter of Henry Stainton Laycock.² She married Major William Henry Poyntz, son of Edward Henry Poyntz and Mary Frances Massy, on 19 February 1870.¹ She died on 6 September 1934.¹
     From 19 February 1870, her married name became Poyntz.
