     Colonel Hugh Stainton Poyntz was born on 17 September 1877.¹ He was the son of Major William Henry Poyntz and Henrietta Emily Laycock.² He married Hilda Gwendoline Thackeray, daughter of Alexander Thackeray, on 21 July 1909.¹ He died on 22 June 1955 at age 77.¹
     He was educated at Eastbourne College, Eastbourne, Sussex, England^G.¹ In 1899 from the Militia.¹ He was commissioned in May 1899, in the service of the Bedfordshire Regiment.¹ He fought in the Boer War.¹ He fought in the First World War between 1915 and 1918, where he was mentioned in despatches twice.¹ He was commaning officer of the 2nd Battalion, Bedfordshire Regiment between 1915 and 1918.¹ He was awarded the Distinguished Service Order (D.S.O.) in 1917.¹ He gained the rank of Brevet Lieutenant-Colonel in 1919.¹ He was the Commandant between 1925 and 1935 at Duke of York’s Royal Military School, Dover, Kent, England^G.¹ He was appointed Officer, Order of the British Empire (O.B.E.) in 1936.¹ He retired from the military in 1936, with the rank of Brevet Colonel.¹ He lived at Harestock Close, Winchester, Hampshire, England^G.¹

     Edward Stephen Massey Poyntz was born on 27 October 1883.¹ He was the son of Major William Henry Poyntz and Henrietta Emily Laycock.² He died on 26 December 1934 at age 51.¹

     Mary Eliza Poyntz was born on 8 December 1870.¹ She was the daughter of Major William Henry Poyntz and Henrietta Emily Laycock.² She married Captain Geoffrey Nicholas Charlton, son of Nicholas John Charlton, on 22 June 1895.¹ She died on 6 August 1948 at age 77.¹
     From 22 June 1895, her married name became Charlton.¹

     Nicholas John Charlton held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.)¹ He lived at Chilwell, Nottinghamshire, England^G.¹

     Captain Geoffrey Nicholas Charlton was the son of Nicholas John Charlton.² He married Mary Eliza Poyntz, daughter of Major William Henry Poyntz and Henrietta Emily Laycock, on 22 June 1895.¹ He died on 29 May 1940.¹
     He lived at Chilwell, Nottinghamshire, England^G.¹ He held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.)¹

     Henrietta Maria Poyntz was born on 18 February 1873.¹ She was the daughter of Major William Henry Poyntz and Henrietta Emily Laycock.² She died on 12 April 1921 at age 48, unmarried.¹

     Katherine Margaret Poyntz was born on 4 August 1874.¹ She was the daughter of Major William Henry Poyntz and Henrietta Emily Laycock.² She married Charles Edmund Gathorne Orr, son of Alexander Orr, on 19 April 1894.¹
     From 19 April 1894, her married name became Orr.¹ She lived in 1965 at Wish Tower Hotel, Eastbourne, Sussex, England^G.¹

     Alexander Orr died before 1865.¹
     He lived at 10 Burlington Place, Eastbourne, Sussex, England^G.¹

     Charles Edmund Gathorne Orr was the son of Alexander Orr.² He married Katherine Margaret Poyntz, daughter of Major William Henry Poyntz and Henrietta Emily Laycock, on 19 April 1894.¹ He died on 5 January 1935.¹
