Sir William Alexander Codrington, 8th Bt.1 
He was educated at St. Andrew’s College, Grahamstown, Cape Province, South AfricaG.1 In 1952 he joined the Merchant Navy.1 He was educated at South African Naval College, South AfricaG.1 He succeeded as the 8th Baronet Codrington, of Dodington, co. Gloucester [G.B., 1721] on 23 March 1961.1 In 1962 he obtained a Master Mariner’s Certificate of Competency.1 He was appointed Fellow, Nautical Institute (F.N.I.) in 1976.1 He was Port Captain for World-Wide Shipping Agency Ltd in 1979 at Hong KongG.1 He became a member of the Honourable County of Master Mariners.1 He was a director of the Worldwide Shipping Agency between 1994 and 1998.1 He lived in 2003 at 206 Westcliffe Apartments, South Wharf Road, London, EnglandG.1
