He was commissioned in 1811, in the service of the 52nd Regiment.2 He fought in the Peninsular Wars.3 He fought in the Battle of Waterloo.3 He succeeded as the 9th Baronet Clerke, of Hitcham, co. Buckingham [E., 1660] on 10 April 1818.1 He retired from the military in 1858, with the rank of Brevet Major, late of the 52nd Regiment.2
