Sir Joseph Lister Cheyne of Leagarth, 2nd Bt. usually went by his middle name of Lister.1 He fought in the First World War, where he was mentioned in despatches twice.1 He was awarded the Military Cross (M.C.) and bar.1 He was commanding officer of the 16th/5th Lancers between 1929 and 1933.1 He succeeded as the 2nd Baronet Cheyne, of Fetlar, Zetland [U.K., 1908] on 19 April 1932.1 He was commanding officer of the AAG Southern Command between 1933 and 1937.1 He fought in the Second World War.1 He was commanding officer of the AQMG 46th Division between 1939 and 1940.1 He gained the rank of Colonel in the 16th/5th Lancers.1
