Sir John Coghill, 1st Bt. was born on 14 July 1732.2 He was the son of Balthazar John Cramer and Hon. Judith Butler.1,3 He married Mary Hort, daughter of Most Rev. Josiah Hort, on 17 October 1754.2 He died on 8 March 1790 at age 57.2
He was given the name of John Cramer at birth.1 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Belturbet between 1754 and 1760.2 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Belturbet between 1761 and 1768.2 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Belturbet in 1776.2 Before 1778 his name was legally changed to John Coghill.2 He was created 1st Baronet Coghill, of Coghill, co. York [Great Britain] on 31 August 1778.1
