     Lt.-Cdr. James Hart Rutland is the son of Archibald Hart Rutland.2 He married Hon. Marian Woodruff Stanley, daughter of Albert Henry Stanley, 1st and last Baron Ashfield and Grace Lowrey Woodruff, on 9 June 1927.3 He and Hon. Marian Woodruff Stanley were divorced in 1934.4 He married Hon. Joan Claire Florence Milne, daughter of Field Marshal George Francis Milne, 1st Baron Milne and Claire Marjoribanks Maitland, on 16 March 1937.1 He died on 17 May 1954.1
     He gained the rank of Lieutenant-Commander in the Royal Navy Volunteer Reserve.1
