     Jane Cardwell was born in 1816 at Pendleton, Lancashire, England.2 She was the daughter of John Cardwell and Elizabeth Birley.1 She married Admiral Sir Edward Gennys Fanshawe, son of General Edward Fanshawe and Frances Mary Dalrymple, on 11 May 1843 at St. George’s Church, Hanover Square, London, England.1,2 She died on 23 July 1900 at Hangmoor, Virginia Water, Surrey, England.2
     From 11 May 1843, her married name became Fanshawe.1
