Lt.-Gen. Sir Hew Whiteford Dalrymple, 1st Bt. was born on 3 December 1750.3 He was the son of John Dalrymple and Mary Ross.4 He married Frances Leighton, daughter of Lt.-Gen. Francis Leighton and Renea Pinfold, on 16 May 1783.4 He died on 9 April 1830 at age 79.4
He was created 1st Baronet Dalrymple, of High Mark, co. Wigtown [U.K.] on 6 May 1815.4 He gained the rank of Colonel in the 57th Regiment.4
