     John Norman Abell was born on 18 September 1931.² He was the son of Sir George Edmond Brackenbury Abell and Susan Norman-Butler.^1,3 He married Mora Delia Clifton-Brown, daughter of Anthony George Clifton-Brown and Delia Charlotte Gordon Wade, on 16 November 1957.¹ He died on 26 May 2004 at age 72.²
     He was educated at Marlborough College, Marlborough, Wiltshire, England.² He graduated from Worcester College, Oxford University, Oxford, Oxfordshire, England, with a Master of Arts (M.A.)² He was with Wood Gundy Ltd in 1955 at Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada.² He was chairman of CIBC Wood Gundy Inc between 1990 and 1991.²
