He was educated at Sherborne School, Sherborne, Dorset, England.1 He gained the rank of Major in the Royal Artillery (TA.)1 He fought in the Second World War.1 He succeeded as the 7th Viscount Marsham [U.K., 1801] on 6 September 1975.3 He succeeded as the 7th Earl of Romney, of the Mote [U.K., 1801] on 6 September 1975.3 He succeeded as the 9th Baron of Romney, co. Kent [G.B., 1716] on 6 September 1975.3 He succeeded as the 13th Baronet Marsham, of Whorn’s Place, Cuxton, Kent [E., 1663] on 6 September 1975.3

He succeeded as the 10th Baron of Romney, co. Kent [G.B., 1716] on 5 June 2004.
