Edward Frederick Lawson, 4th Baron Burnham was born on 16 June 1890.2 He was the son of Colonel William Arnold Webster Levy-Lawson, 3rd Baron Burnham and Sybil Mary Marshall.2 He married Marie Enid Robson, daughter of Hugh Scott Robson, on 28 January 1920.2 He died on 4 July 1963 at age 73.2
He was educated at Eton College, Windsor, Berkshire, EnglandG.2 He graduated from Balliol College, Oxford University, Oxford, Oxfordshire, EnglandG, in 1914 with a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.)2 He fought in the First World War, where he was mentioned in despatches three times.2 He was awarded the Military Cross (M.C.)2 He was awarded the Distinguished Service Order (D.S.O.)2 He was appointed Companion, Order of the Bath (C.B.)2 He graduated from Balliol College, Oxford University, Oxford, Oxfordshire, EnglandG, in 1920 with a Master of Arts (M.A.)2 He held the office of Deputy Lieutenant (D.L.) of Buckinghamshire.2 He was Major-General of the Royal Artillery 48th Division (Territorial Army) between 1938 and 1941.2 He succeeded as the 4th Baronet Levy-Lawson, of Hall Barn, Beaconsfield, co. Bucks [U.K., 1892] on 14 June 1943.2 He succeeded as the 4th Baron Burnham, of Hall Barn, Beaconsfield, co. Bucks [U.K., 1903] on 14 June 1943.2 He was awarded the Territorial Decoration (T.D.)2 He was managing director of the Daily Telegraph and Morning Post.2
