He was educated at Queen’s College, Taunton, Somerset, England.3 He graduated from Law Society Law School, London, England, in 1919 with a Bachelor of Laws (LL.B.)3 He was a practising solicitor in 1920.3 He was member of the Council of Law Society between 1935 and 1963.3 He was Director-General of Postal and Telegraph Censorship Department between 1940 and 1945.3 He was appointed Knight Bachelor (K.B.) in 1943.3 He was appointed Knight Commander, Order of the British Empire (K.B.E.) in 1956.1,2 He was created Baron Tangley, of Blackheath in the County of Surrey [U.K. Life Peer] on 22 January 1964.1
