Margaret Lucas was born in 1617.2 She was the daughter of Sir Thomas Lucas and Elizabeth Leighton.2,3 She was also reported to have been born in 1623 at Colchester, Essex, England.4 She married William Cavendish, 1st Duke of Newcastle-upon-Tyne, son of Sir Charles Cavendish and Catherine Ogle, Baroness Ogle, circa December 1645.2 She died on 15 December 1673, without issue.2
Margaret Lucas also went by the nick-name of ‘Mad Madge of Newcastle’.2 From circa December 1645, her married name became Cavendish. She has an extensive biographical entry in the Dictionary of National Biography.5

Carl XII von Holstein-Gottorp, King of Sweden was born on 17 June 1682. He was the son of Carl XI von Holstein-Gottorp, King of Sweden and Ulrike Eleanore Oldenburg, Princess of Denmark.3 He died on 11 December 1718 at age 36 at Halden, NorwayG, killed in action.
He succeeded as the King Carl XII of Sweden in 1697.1 He fought in the siege of Halden in December 1718.
